I'm a contemporary jeweller based in Manchester, UK. I currently design and make a range of collections which are stocked in a number of galleries throughout the country. I've been making jewellery professionally since 2009 and have worked hard improving my silversmithing skills along the way.
My longest standing and most popular collection is Revolve, which I've been making since 2011. I never tire of making this collection as each piece can be so different.
My Fragments collection is one I developed a few years later and is probably the most 'me', you'll find me most days wearing at least one piece from this collection. I'm still coming up with new designs for this which I add to the collection regularly.
But I also love a new material to play with, which is where my Electric collection comes from. When studying Applied Art I did a lot of textiles work, and in the Electric collection I'm able to use some of those techniques. Electric wire responds quite different to a textile thread creating a very unique and much more chaotic piece.
My hate of waste led me to the Thread collection which uses all the off-cuts from my Electric pieces. I combine these with silver forms which creates a pleasing contrast between the materials.
My latest collection is Carve. I'm still completed pieces for this so I'll reveal more soon...
In 2009 me and my good friend and fellow Jeweller Abby Filer opened our shop Franny & Filer. We're on Beech Road in Chorlton, Manchester which is a gorgeous street with lots of independent shops, bars, and restaurants. We love what we do here, celebrating a carefully selected range of jewellers from throughout the UK. We also have our workshop here so if you ever pop in you're likely to see one of us working away. I feel very lucky to be able to say I love what I do.
